Are you Self-Aware?

Are you self-aware? Before you answer, let me remind you what it means to be “SELF-AWARE”.

Why is it important for all of us to have self-awareness? Well, the University of Warwick says it best. “Self-Awareness is important because when we have a better understanding of ourselves, we are able to experience ourselves as unique and separate individuals. We are then empowered to make changes and to build on our areas of strength as well as identify areas where we would like to make improvements.”

Now answer the question…Are you Self-Aware?

If you are one of the few that are lucky enough to be Self-Aware leave a comment below letting me know how you cultivate and practice Self-Awareness. For those of us that are not or are working on becoming “Self-Aware”; let me tell you, it is a journey and requires you to dig deep into who you are.

The hardest part for me on my journey to becoming fully Self-Aware is tapping into my thoughts and views about myself and confronting them, but by the grace of God, I am starting to see myself clearly and really learn who I am. It is truly amazing to learn who you are in a whole new way. So if you are currently on your journey of Self-Awareness or are looking for guidance on how to become Self-Aware, I will be sharing my journey along with tips and exercises that have helped me become more of who I truly am.

It Starts With You

Hi Beautiful!

it’s time for a change, what’s holding you back?

Guess what? I know I know exactly what’s holding you back. It’s not money, it’s not timing, it’s not others holding you back, it’s not a million other excuses that you are probably trying to come up with right now.

What’s holding you back is YOU! Let’s just take a step back and think about it. You will really need to let go, clear your mind, and step out of your comfort zone and really do a Self Evaluation and become “Self Aware”.

Vanessa’s quick Note: When I feel like this or become aware of myself coming up with a million excuses as to why I am unable to do something; I take a step back, pray and ask God for clarity, and meditate.

It’s time for you to get out of your own way and start living life as you are now. Take 5 minutes out of your day and ask yourself these 5 questions, and allow yourself to feel and really evaluate what is going on in your mind and with your emotions as you answer these questions.

  1. Who are you?
  2. What are your values?
  3. Do you care what people think of you?
  4. What drives you or what motivates you?
  5. Do you love yourself?

If you are stuck, feel free to email me at LivingLifeAsIAm@gmail.com and I can help you through.

Now think about where you want to be in life in as much detail as possible. If you need to write it down, go ahead and write it down. Think about it as if it were the life you are living now. Feel it, live it, dream it.

Now that you have done a quick evaluation of who you are, what is holding you back from living your life as you picture it?

Once you have the answers to these questions, you can now start taking the steps necessary to get to the life that you want, all while living your best life as you are right now. It Starts with You!

Intro to Vanessa and LLAIA

If this is your first time here at LivingLifeAsIAm.com, let me introduce myself. My name is Vanessa and through LivingLifeAsIAm.com I hope to inspire and motivate you to live your #BestLife in your current reality. Now that you know what my goal is, let me give you a little more insight into who I am or who I was.

For as long as I can remember, I lived life day by day with a smile on my face at all times. If I was having a bad day or had a million things on my mind, no one could ever tell. I was always known as the always this “positive”, “happy”, “giving” person and I allowed people to take advantage of me in ways that I never realized.

Growing up I never wanted to upset anyone, let anyone down, or be a burden on anyone. You can say I was a “people pleaser”. I cared so much about what people thought of me and really valued their opinion of me, and of course, I wanted their perception of me to be positive. It got to a point in my adulthood that it really took a toll on me physically and mentally. But let me tell you…If I knew back then what I know now, I could be running the world.

As I reached adulthood, I truly felt like something was missing and I felt so empty. I went through a really tough time that gave me so much anxiety, and I would constantly be playing a reel of these questions through my head constantly.

  1. Am I good enough?
  2. Why Me?
  3. Is this where I am supposed to be in life?
  4. Am I pretty enough?
  5. Am I smart enough?
  6. Should I work harder?
  7. Why do they have such a better quality of life than I do?

It wasn’t until I got married, actually, it wasn’t until years into my marriage that I was able to just “Let Go and Let God”. Literally.

Mind you, I grew up going to church. Or shall I say, going through the motions of going to church with my family. I really never understood what was going on in church. I could never really follow what was going go on. I just knew that Jesus is the son of God, Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and I knew God spoke to me at the age of 10 and at that time I got baptized. And of course like most people growing up getting into the pre-teen and teenage years going to church and building my relationship with God was just not important as Cheerleading or being the best Dancer I could be.

It wasn’t until I met my husband that I would develop a whole new understanding of who God is, what Christianity really means, and who I am in the image of God. My everyday struggles slowly melted away as I grew my relationship with God, things in my life became so clear.

I will go so much deeper and open up much more as I share with you all how to live your best life where you are now.

Have you tried ASP Quick Dip Kit?

Back in the day, I had acrylic nails like every other woman. I loved them because my nails were always on point and I really never had to worry about them. But on the other hand I completely despised going to the nail salon every two weeks, not only was I spending a lot of money getting my nails done but it was a painful process for me. Can anybody else relate?

First and foremost I hated the sound of filing or how it felt getting my nails filed, it is like nails on a chalkboard for me. Second, every time I would get my nails done I would get cut by the drills that the nail technicians use. So I decided to just take my acrylics off. I haven’t had them on in so many years because I refuse to go to the nail salon now.

So for years now, I have been doing my own nails. At least twice a  week I would paint my nails, and once a week I would give myself a manicure. I completely tried my best to keep my nails looking good, but my nails have always been so weak and brittle which is the reason why  I decided to start getting acrylics in the first place.

Recently I have been looking for something to do to help my nails or at least make them look good and last at least 2 weeks. I was talking with my mom about my nails and she mentioned that there is a process that I can get done at the nail salon that would allow me to have the acrylic look and feel without needing the use of a drill. So when I went to visit my mom we tried to find someone to do my nails and we had no luck,

When I made it back home, I started to do some research on how I can do my own nails (I am all about that #DIY life) myself. I read up on all sorts of processes and decided to try a system by ASP called Quick Dip kit and I purchased it from Sally’s Beauty Supply. Let me just say, I am pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use this system. The first time I tried it, my nails came out a thicker than I liked and there was a lot of filling involved in the process. But all in all, it was so much better for me than going to the nail salon.

So if you are looking for a DIY acrylic set, I would recommend you try this product. Also, this is totally not a sponsored post, I just really like the simplicity of this product.

Who Else Wants Affordable Prescription Glasses?

If you have been following me for a while; then you know that I have been wearing glasses forever, not because I want to, but because I have to. And before you even think about it or ask, YES I have tried to get Lasik Eye Surgery, but I do not qualify for the procedure just yet. I have to wait for the technology to get better or for my vision to change/improve. So until then, I am stuck wearing prescription glasses until then.

And of course, I can’t just get any glasses. My glasses frames have to be cute, stylish and tend to be more on the expensive name brand side. The way I see it, I have to wear my glasses 24/7 so they need to be what I want no matter the cost. Oh, and not to mention the cost of the lenses. Of course, in order for the lenses to fit into the frames, they must have all of these special materials, coatings, etc.   It gets pricey for one pair of eyeglasses.

Thank goodness for GlassesShop.com, I have had my eye on this website for quite some time, but I could not get myself to order a pair of eyeglasses online.

One…The prices were too good to be true.

Two…There is no way they can get my prescription in any of their frames. NO FREAKING WAY!

Three…How is the quality of the frames and lenses

I mean really? ordering prescription eyeglasses online…how good could they be?  Well to my surprise GlassesShop.com reached out to me to see if I would like to try out a pair of eyeglasses from their website.  And of course, I was like YES! I couldn’t turn down the offer.

I decided to go with a pair of sunglasses for my first pair of online prescription glasses. I figure sunglasses was the safest way to go.

The frames I chose are the “Edith Round” in black

And Oh My Goodness!!! I’m in love.

I absolutely love these sunglasses. The frames are great quality and seem to be very durable. The lenses, I was a bit nervous about, but the quality is actually pretty good. The lenses have some weight to them, but that was to be expected with my strong prescription. I am truly impressed. I can’t even believe I can get a whole pair of eyeglasses or sunglasses for under $100.00. WHAT?!?! That is unheard of in my world. And not to mention the quality of the glasses all around is amazing. I am so pleasantly surprised about how these prescription sunglasses turned out. I will definitely be ordering more prescription glasses from GlassesShop.com in the near future.

Thank you so much GlassesShop.com for opening my eyes to an affordable alternative to getting prescription eyeglasses. Where have you been all my life!
