Are you Self-Aware?

Are you self-aware? Before you answer, let me remind you what it means to be “SELF-AWARE”.

Why is it important for all of us to have self-awareness? Well, the University of Warwick says it best. “Self-Awareness is important because when we have a better understanding of ourselves, we are able to experience ourselves as unique and separate individuals. We are then empowered to make changes and to build on our areas of strength as well as identify areas where we would like to make improvements.”

Now answer the question…Are you Self-Aware?

If you are one of the few that are lucky enough to be Self-Aware leave a comment below letting me know how you cultivate and practice Self-Awareness. For those of us that are not or are working on becoming “Self-Aware”; let me tell you, it is a journey and requires you to dig deep into who you are.

The hardest part for me on my journey to becoming fully Self-Aware is tapping into my thoughts and views about myself and confronting them, but by the grace of God, I am starting to see myself clearly and really learn who I am. It is truly amazing to learn who you are in a whole new way. So if you are currently on your journey of Self-Awareness or are looking for guidance on how to become Self-Aware, I will be sharing my journey along with tips and exercises that have helped me become more of who I truly am.

It Starts With You

Hi Beautiful!

it’s time for a change, what’s holding you back?

Guess what? I know I know exactly what’s holding you back. It’s not money, it’s not timing, it’s not others holding you back, it’s not a million other excuses that you are probably trying to come up with right now.

What’s holding you back is YOU! Let’s just take a step back and think about it. You will really need to let go, clear your mind, and step out of your comfort zone and really do a Self Evaluation and become “Self Aware”.

Vanessa’s quick Note: When I feel like this or become aware of myself coming up with a million excuses as to why I am unable to do something; I take a step back, pray and ask God for clarity, and meditate.

It’s time for you to get out of your own way and start living life as you are now. Take 5 minutes out of your day and ask yourself these 5 questions, and allow yourself to feel and really evaluate what is going on in your mind and with your emotions as you answer these questions.

  1. Who are you?
  2. What are your values?
  3. Do you care what people think of you?
  4. What drives you or what motivates you?
  5. Do you love yourself?

If you are stuck, feel free to email me at LivingLifeAsIAm@gmail.com and I can help you through.

Now think about where you want to be in life in as much detail as possible. If you need to write it down, go ahead and write it down. Think about it as if it were the life you are living now. Feel it, live it, dream it.

Now that you have done a quick evaluation of who you are, what is holding you back from living your life as you picture it?

Once you have the answers to these questions, you can now start taking the steps necessary to get to the life that you want, all while living your best life as you are right now. It Starts with You!

Intro to Vanessa and LLAIA

If this is your first time here at LivingLifeAsIAm.com, let me introduce myself. My name is Vanessa and through LivingLifeAsIAm.com I hope to inspire and motivate you to live your #BestLife in your current reality. Now that you know what my goal is, let me give you a little more insight into who I am or who I was.

For as long as I can remember, I lived life day by day with a smile on my face at all times. If I was having a bad day or had a million things on my mind, no one could ever tell. I was always known as the always this “positive”, “happy”, “giving” person and I allowed people to take advantage of me in ways that I never realized.

Growing up I never wanted to upset anyone, let anyone down, or be a burden on anyone. You can say I was a “people pleaser”. I cared so much about what people thought of me and really valued their opinion of me, and of course, I wanted their perception of me to be positive. It got to a point in my adulthood that it really took a toll on me physically and mentally. But let me tell you…If I knew back then what I know now, I could be running the world.

As I reached adulthood, I truly felt like something was missing and I felt so empty. I went through a really tough time that gave me so much anxiety, and I would constantly be playing a reel of these questions through my head constantly.

  1. Am I good enough?
  2. Why Me?
  3. Is this where I am supposed to be in life?
  4. Am I pretty enough?
  5. Am I smart enough?
  6. Should I work harder?
  7. Why do they have such a better quality of life than I do?

It wasn’t until I got married, actually, it wasn’t until years into my marriage that I was able to just “Let Go and Let God”. Literally.

Mind you, I grew up going to church. Or shall I say, going through the motions of going to church with my family. I really never understood what was going on in church. I could never really follow what was going go on. I just knew that Jesus is the son of God, Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and I knew God spoke to me at the age of 10 and at that time I got baptized. And of course like most people growing up getting into the pre-teen and teenage years going to church and building my relationship with God was just not important as Cheerleading or being the best Dancer I could be.

It wasn’t until I met my husband that I would develop a whole new understanding of who God is, what Christianity really means, and who I am in the image of God. My everyday struggles slowly melted away as I grew my relationship with God, things in my life became so clear.

I will go so much deeper and open up much more as I share with you all how to live your best life where you are now.

Embrace New Beginnings

New Beginnings

Hey guys,

After a much needed mental break, I’m back…

I just wanted to give you all a quick update on what has been going on with me lately. For the last couple of weeks I have not been blogging as much as I would have liked too, and if you haven’t noticed there has not been any “Get Your Mind Right Monday” posts for the past few weeks (CRAZY, I KNOW!).

At the beginning of March there was a huge unexpected bomb dropped on me (and my friends/Co-Workers), I mean this came out of left field for me. I personally felt like I had been hit by a train physically and mentally and I was forced to make a decision as to what my next move was going to be for my family and I. I guess this just goes to show that you can’t get to comfortable in your current situation. I am a true believer that when God closes one door, another one opens with bigger and better opportunities.

One season of my life is coming to an end and a new one is beginning.

Don’t get me wrong, even though now I know that I am destined to accomplish great things in this next season of my life, my stress level had been off the charts for the last few weeks. I literally had to force myself to snap out of it, put a smile on my face, and take on the days as if everything was all good (I am pretty good at faking it until I make it). So I say all of that to say this, “I am only human”.

I was stuck in a mental rut, and it has taken me weeks to get back to a positive mindset. It has been so hard for me to stop focusing on what is happening in the present and focus on the positive that is to come in the near future (if that makes any sense at all). And I believe the reason for me having a “mental breakdown/blockage” is because I allowed myself to open up and get so comfortable with everything and everyone in my current situation, and I just have not been ready to let it all go.

So as I finally start to except that this season is over, I am slowly allowing myself to embrace the change and embrace all of the amazing opportunities that are coming my way. It is time to stop stressing and dwelling on the negative of the situation and really take my life head on and run with it in faith.

I am too blessed to be stressed!

Get your mind right Quote for MONDAY:

“Be with those who bring out the best in you, not the stress in you.”

Hello Beautiful People and Happy Monday to you,

I had such a wonderful low key weekend, I just wish that I had one more day just to chill and relax. Maybe I should have called in sick to work today {Just Kidding} LOL!

I thought I would start the week off with one of my favorite quotes:

Lovelightcreative.com
LoveLightCreative.com

I am not sure who wrote it, but I found it on Pinterest from LoveLightCreative.com a while back and I used it as my lock screen image on my phone for a long time. Not sure why, but every time I read this quote I laugh so hard on the inside because 1. It is so funny to me and 2. It is so TRUE! As I mentioned in my very first GYMRM (Get your Mind Right Monday) post, I briefly touched on a situation where I allowed those around me to bring me down so far that it was so hard for me to bring myself back to life. Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up with people who are your “friends” but are secretly hoping you fail in life. Not intentionally but because they are miserable with themselves they naturally put that energy on you, and if you are around them like every day, you get sucked in to their negative pull.

So if you want to live a positive life and allow for positivity to penetrate your life; you should surround yourself with people who truly love and care about you and want to see you succeed in life, or surround yourself with like-minded people who are striving for the same goal or similar goals in life, business, or family as you are.

Let’s start the week by “being with those who bring out the best in you, not the stress in you”!

I hope you all have a VIVACIOUS week.
